How Important is it to Get Your Band 7s and 8s in your IELTS, And How Fast Do You Want To Get There?
Before we decide on how best I can help you, let’s figure out where you’re currently at in your IELTS study.
Does any of the following describe you…?
You’ve reached band 7 or even 8 is some parts of the test but not all…
You’re getting more and more frustrated with the parts of the test which are still not getting to the right level…
For the amount of time and energy you’re putting into your study, it feels like you’re not making enough progress, and you’re slowly losing the spark and enthusiasm you once had …
Each day you feel like you’re constantly having to push yourself to work harder and harder and you are wondering if it might be best to give up your dream, you’re not sure how long things can continue this way…
Look, if any of the above is familiar to you, then it definitely sounds like you need an IELTS breakthrough.
And what better way to do this than to…
Get Personal One-On-One Help From Someone Who Is an Expert in IELTS and Has Already Helped Many Others to Overcome These Same Problems
And that’s exactly what I’m offering you.
For 1 whole week I’ll be by your side helping you change what you need to change (specifically tailored to you) to get the exact results YOU want…
Whatever you want help with is is what we’ll work on, and with 20+ years of being one of the leading teachers in IELTS here’s a brief list of how I can be of service…
Looking at the techniques and strategies for IELTS that will help you to get the results you want without having to work harder or for longer - so you can dramatically change your score and get the results that you are looking for.
Looking at everything you are doing in IELTS currently and deciding exactly what you need to focus on to get the result you want - so you can ONLY focus your time on those things that will improve your score… and stop wasting your time on distractions.
Really learning what will work for you in the exam, especially in writing - so that you can produce more accurate tasks easily in the time, with enough time to check your work
Learning how to avoid all the big and expensive mistakes most people tend to make when trying to improve skills to band 7 and 8 - so you can drastically cut the painful learning curve and get the results you want more quickly.
Redesigning your study plan make it more effective and consistent - so not only can you hit your band target comfortably but also get it every time you practise
…and that’s just brief list of what we can work on.
Maybe you need help with reading and writing as you are not getting near the scores. Or maybe there are aspects of the listening and speaking that you feel could be improved.
Maybe you need more vocabulary or more help with planning your writing.
In all cases, my mission is to bring you true CLARITY around your study and the steps you need to take to quickly improve your scores and keep them at a high level ready for your exam.
You’ll walk away knowing exactly WHAT you need to do to keep consistency in your practice and the best way to use your time before you take your next exam … and it’ll be a much simpler plan than you can possibly imagine.
When I work with students I’m told over and over again that I’ve got a real “knack” for helping them focus on the details that they’re not seeing - on many occasions I’ve even been told me that my advice seems “too simple” and they’re reluctant to follow it at first because I’m telling my students to stop much of what they are already doing and to focus on the small things that will improve their scores instead.
So if I had to describe my “super hero power”, it would be that I have the ability to see exactly where you are not focusing your attention, with almost X-Ray vision, I can instantly see exactly what you need to do next (and what you need to drop) to get to band 7 and 8.
As an example, one of my recent students, Laure, was achieving some great results in reading (she had even got a band 9 in one exam) and listening but not in writing and speaking. When she started working with me, and she wanted me to help her get 7.5 overall with band 7 in each part as a minimum so she could take up a Fellowship in a London hospital as an ophthalmologist. After looking at her IELTS as a whole I could instantly see that she was making some very fundamental errors in her Task 1 writing and also not making the most of her speaking exam opportunity to show her speaking skill - so I helped Laure focus on these things. Fast forward a week and Laure passed her IELTS exam with bands 7.5s and 8s and was able to take up the fellowship.
Just How Helpful Can This Experience Really Be?
Look, I understand you might be thinking, “Berni, as great as this sounds, how can staying with you at your place in North Yorkshire for a week possibly lead to an improvement in my IELTS scores?”
And that’s a very good question. Because this experience is truly different to any other IELTS course out there:
You WON’T be sitting in a big seminar room with lots of other students.
You WON’T be hearing lots of different strategies and ideas you can apply in your study, but which might not actually be relevant to you.
You WON’T be learning about how to get band 6 or 6.5 which is not what you want.
You WON’T be in a large class situation where you’re fighting for one-on-one attention.
Instead, this is an ultra-rare and exclusive opportunity where you can hang out with me personally while I work with you one-on-one and look at YOUR IELTS… leaving you with a feeling of renewed confidence and excitement for the next exam.
Getting To The Next Level Is Far Easier When You've Been Shown A Clear Path By Someone Who's Already Shown Other People...
As I’m writing this, I’m thinking back to one of my very first IELTS students 20 years ago - Yuri.
He was an anaesthetist from Russia and was desperate to get his IELTS exam so he could bring his wife and daughter to the UK to start a new life. He was working as a night porter in a hotel to support himself while he studied for the IELTS.
He had already taken the exam a couple of times but hadn’t reached the score he wanted – he also had limited time on his visa to make it work!
When I first met him I saw immediately what the problems were – these were mostly with writing but also in speaking too.
Because he worked as a night porter and slept during the day he rarely had the chance to speak to people and so his English was mostly studied through books.
As a result, his language was rather ‘stilted’ and much of it was directly translated from Russian. Another problem was that his books were very old and so some of the words he was learning were quite archaic – meaning that we no longer used them!!
Once I showed him these things it gave him a huge feeling of relief and clarity, and in the weeks following we worked together to ‘modernise’ his English and make it more natural.
He passed the exam with great scores (7s and 8s) and was able to bring his family over and begin a new life here.…
…this was an unusual case, but it illustrates that often there are things you may be doing which will not (and maybe never) get you the bands 7 and 8 in IELTS and you just might not be aware that you are doing them.
I Want You To Experience This!
And when you join me here in Yorkshire that’s exactly what I intend for you – a breakthrough.
Yes, we’ll spend time together studying and also relaxing.
Yes, we’ll have lots of time to discuss the exam and you can ask questions.
Yes, we’ll enjoy the peace and quiet and country views.
But most importantly, we’ll be getting down to some serious work on IELTS and getting you the scores that you want.
I simply love helping high achievers with their ielts, and once I get started good luck trying to get me to stop!
I know that you have achieved a lot in your career to get where you are now and I don’t want IELTS to stop you from taking the next step.
I’m looking forward to seeing lots of ‘ahas’!
You see, one of the best things about these intimate events is the stuff that isn’t planned.
The unexpected breakthroughs you can have by simply being together with other people with the same ielts goal and spontaneously interacting with like-minded individuals all on the same path is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
I’m getting excited just thinking about all the exam techniques and skills improvements we’re going to be uncovering during our week together!
• You’ll arrive here at Fleetham Lodge on Sunday January 15th 2016, When you arrive here (from 4pm) you’ll have the chance to freshen up, get comfortable, and prepare for the week ahead - January 16th – 21st.
• In the evening of January 15th we’ll all have dinner together and discuss the IELTS Workshop.
• Your room will be a double room with a private bathroom (there are 3 of these)
• All food and drinks will be included, and we will be preparing some nutritious food to keep the brain cells working well! We can cater for all dietary requirements
• During your stay you can make full use of the facilities at Fleetham Lodge since it will be your home for the week…so relax, listen to music, play the piano or watch TV. We have Wi-Fi so you can be in touch with family and friends
As far as the set IELTS Training goes, here’s what I have planned for you during the week:
EVEN BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
In the 2 weeks before the Workshop I’ll be sending you some work to complete and we’ll be meeting online as a group to go over some techniques and discuss where you are now and what areas of IELTS you are feeling challenged by.
In that way when you get here we can jump straight into the work and I will know what areas to focus on.
Step #1 - Your IELTS X-Ray
On Day 1 you’ll meet with me one-on-one and we’ll do a DEEP dive into everything you’re experiencing with your IELTS right now - you’ll lay it all out for me, warts and all!
We’ll look at everything you’re working on, the results you’re currently getting, the results you want and why you think it’s not working… and we’ll just get everything out into the open.
This process of laying everything out alone will be hugely beneficial to you because you’ll be getting everything out of your head and off your chest - trust me, you’ll feel a whole lot better at the end of this process.
Once it’s all laid out in front of me, I’ll then start to work looking at what you are doing and maybe not doing that is stopping you getting your score.
Step #2 - Zeroing In On Your Writing
For many IELTS students this is the real nemesis and that isn’t surprising as writing is the last skill to develop even in your own language, I’ll help you identify the key things you should be focusing on in YOUR writing… and what you need to stop doing.
As I mentioned earlier, some of the advice I give you at this stage may seem a bit “controversial” (and might even sting a little!) but as we talk it through and I show you what’s possible, I guarantee you’ll start to seeing things differently… and you’ll feel like a huge weight is being lifted off your shoulders with a renewed sense of excitement and confidence.
My goal is to get you thinking MUCH bigger about your English which is THE key to IELTS success by showing you the techniques that you’re currently not seeing clearly perhaps because you are worrying too much about things that won’t help you to improve.
During this session we’ll also start outlining a plan for you to construct that will act as a frame for most of your writing. This will help to improve your accuracy AND timing.
Step #3 – Improving your Reading Techniques
Really LOVE teaching IELTS reading. I also really LOVE doing IELTS reading. It’s a little like a big language puzzle and I like puzzles because they are fun and they make you think.
Many students are afraid of IELTS reading. They often panic so much that they don’t even take on board the topic they are reading about – which is a pity as so many of them are really interesting and having that understanding helps enormously with the questions.
The main problem is that many students focus on timing instead of getting the right answers. Once you shift this priority, you will see that timing is no longer an issue but getting the right answers is the way to improve your score. Doing the reading badly but in the right time will NOT improve your performance – but making sure you have the right answers can be fun and I’ll show you how you can really enjoy the reading which will help you to get a much better score.
Step #4 – Effective Listening Skills
Listening can improve quite quickly for most IELTS students but there are some question types (multiple-choice?) that can be tricky. For some students also listening can be a challenge I will work with you not only to improve your score whatever it is now but also to help you make sure that you don’t miss anything.
Even if you can get band 7 now – wouldn’t it be great to move that to band 8 and be completely safe in the IELTS exam?
We’ll be looking at how you can do this and also getting practice in these techniques.
Step #5 – Brilliant Speaking Skills
Imagine that for a whole week you will be speaking English all day, every day! This is a great way to get fluency and also to use new words and sentence structures that you can try out in readiness for the exam.
One of the great things about this workshop is your chance to practice the speaking exam almost effortlessly!
We’ll be practising part 2 speaking too to get this better and I have a few tricks up my sleeve that will help you to make this part really effortless.
What Happens Each Day?
We’ll be covering all parts of the test in our daily sessions so you will be covering each part of the test each day (with 6 hours of daily lessons there will be plenty of time). I’ll set writing twice a day as this is usually the area that needs the most practice but no other part will be left out.
Any part which needs special attention whether this is a whole section or just certain question types will be covered in extra detail.
Plus there will be plenty of group interaction time where we’ll all hang out and discuss the exam and generally talk mind-set, confidence and have lots of time for questions and to address anything that you are concerned about or need to know more about
And when it’s time to return home after the week, don’t worry I’ve still got you covered because as a special bonus I’ll be making myself available for 2 further group sessions so that I can check your progress and help you along the way to your exam day.
As you can probably tell, I’m super committed to help you get the results you deserve.
Are You Ready To Embrace This Very Special Training Directly Into Your IELTS?
Attendance to this extremely rare, intimate, and profitable experience is strictly by application only.
And since there are 4 rooms here, that means there is a maximum of 4 spaces available.
So with that said, I’m going to be EXTRA selective about who I choose to come.
If you’re serious about joining me for this extremely profitable 1-week IELTS workshop here in North Yorkshire then you’ll meet ALL of the following criteria…
You want at least band 7 overall in your exam
You’ve taken the IELTS exam before and not quite got your scores in all parts but are getting some high bands.
You have been working on your IELTS regularly and don’t really know why you are not getting the results that you want.
You’re the type of person who takes fast action and is prepared to do what it takes to get the score you want and also meet any challenges along the way (in other words, no wingers or whiners please!)
You understand the sheer value of this kind of experience for yourself, AND the other attendees and you’re committed to interacting and making the most of it during your stay.
You don’t need to get a visa to come and take this short workshop (unfortunately there won’t be time to get this before the workshop this time)
You are available from January 16th to January 21st to attend the workshop and also have time to meet online before the 16th (we will meet 3 times between January 2nd and 14th and the times will be negotiated with the group)
You understand that what you are currently investing your time in doing is not helping you achieve the score… and you want help putting this right.
Most importantly, you’re exactly the type of person who will dig in and extract a ton of value from this one of a kind experience.
Providing a residential workshop of this kind involves not only teaching and collecting materials together, as well as hosting but also providing a suitable ambience in which to study and exchange strengths and ideas…
I tried to find other courses to compare but the truth is there is no course like this anywhere else in the UK – I did look hard
…you can take intensive IELTS courses but they offer fewer hours, the groups are bigger and MOST importantly, they DON’T specialise in BAND 7 and 8. This course simply doesn’t exist anywhere else.
..And, remember the pre and post sessions and the 30 hours of lessons are not the WHOLE story – we will spend more time than this informally so you will be immersed in IELTS totally.
So this event is definitely not for the typical IELTS student.
And in no way should it be either.
You get to spend time with me, up close and personal for over a full week.
You get my full, undivided attention on you and your IELTS.
We’ll be focusing totally on YOUR English and YOUR IELTS exam.
But here’s the good news… even though this IELTS Workshop is easily worth more than £5,000 I’m going to price it in a way that will be irresistible to you.
So all in, this 1 week workshop to have me personally work with you and help you take your IELTS to the level you want for your exam weighs in at an extremely reasonable £1,500 (everything included).
And think about this for a second. If you DON’T take advantage of this opportunity, how many wasted hours of time and energy are you going to pour into your exam preparation if things stay the same over the next few weeks or months?
And when you consider how I’ll help you get to your score in your next exam, then a better question would be how can you afford not to do this!
Is there Anything Else Included?
And as if this opportunity couldn’t get any better, I’ll also throw in these extra bonuses to ensure you have the absolute best chance of success from this workshop.
Bonus #1: 3 'Skype' group Sessions including correcting your work before you arrive (value - £750)
Before you get here we will be meeting on Skype and starting our practice with some IELTS work in the 2 weeks before the Workshop. This will give me a chance to get to know your work and also give you a chance to get to know the other students who will be coming. And, we can jump straight in on Day 1 without any need for introductions and preamble!
Bonus #2: 2 Additional Skype Group Sessions After the Workshop – again with correction of your work (value - £500)
And after we finish the IELTS Workshop, it won’t end there. I’ll be meeting you again on Skype to consolidate everything and you’ll be able to continue practising! I generally keep in touch with my students until the day of their exam.
Bonus #3: Keeping the Group Together until Your Exams (value - priceless)
I’ll create a private Skype and Facebook Group for us to do this. I’ve done this in the past and the students reported that this was one of the most effective things in passing their exam – so I want you to have this chance too.
Bonus #4: IELTS Materials that have online resources that you can use after the Workshop
The IELTS book I’ll give you has extra IELTS resources and tests online that you can use after you return home to keep practising new things and reviewing old.
As you can probably tell, the bonuses above alone are worth a lot to your exam success and I’m including them all in the fee for the IELTS Workshop!
Here’s What To Do Next…
So with that said, it’s now time to decide if you want to gain the kind of intensive practice that can only be experienced at this workshop.
As I’ve already mentioned, we only have space for four students at this exclusive IELTS Workshop, and I’m sending this invite to all my private clients, customers, and also my most active subscribers on my mailing list.
This means that these places will be filled, and they’ll likely be snapped up very quickly.
So if you’re reading this right now and you want me to work with you personally on your IELTS, then my best advice is to go ahead and submit your application below as I’ll be speaking to applicants on a first-come first-served basis.
Please make sure to fill out the answers fully, and I look forward to speaking with you in the next few days to see if this is a fit.
Thanks for reading, and hopefully we’ll be meeting soon...
P.S. I think Einstein said it best when he stated the following:
“We cannot solve our problems using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them”
Or to put this another way... what got you to where you are in your IELTS today is not what’s going to get you to your final success in your exam.
And that’s certainly been my experience during this crazy up and down journey of IELTS Band 7 and 8.
Without fail, every time I’ve worked with high level IELTS students, it has ALWAYS paid off super fast… and many, many times over.
I want this for you, too!
So go ahead and submit your application below now if it makes sense for you to do so.
P.P.S. In case you're interested in the kind of results we aim for in these IELTS Workshops, here are some of the results and comments from previous students who’ve attended them:
(1) Sophia attended a Workshop after having taken the exam 12 times without achieving her desired band score. 2 months later when she sat the exam again for the 13th time she passed with truly flying colours (L8.5, R 7.5 W 7 and A 7.5)
(2) Laure had her “back to the wall” if she didn’t pass she would have to begin her GMC application right from the beginning. She passed the week after coming on the Workshop (L8.5 R7.5 W7 S 7.5)
(3) Valeria had been studying for 18 months and taken the exam twice and was beginning to doubt if she would ever pass it but after a very tranquil and focused IELTS Workshop in November, she achieved her desired score of band 7 and was over the moon.
My friends (Facebook & Skype groups) I would have been lost in the darkness of IELTS, but with you, the sun shone as bright as possible during the test. Berni in particular, you are the best teacher I ever had and probably will have. (Sophia)
I have worked with one to one Ms.Berni She is out of the world in all parts. Due to her as well as being lucky I was able to achieve 8.5 in both reading and listening. (Akik)
I am over the moon about my IELTS results. I would never have been able to improve my score in such a short period of time without your invaluable help. It has also been a pleasure and privilege to spend a few days with you in Yorkshire. I am immensely grateful to you. A huge thank you. (Laure)
NOTE: This is just a brief highlight of the big improvements I helped these amazing people make. And it's worth noting they were already super smart and successful in their own right... but it just goes to show that we can never underestimate the power of a fresh pair of eyes and an outside perspective.
I hope you're imagining the results I can help you achieve when you join me at the next IELTS Workshop!
